Kimberly Seals Allers
Kimberly Seals Allers will be the featured speaker at the Women's Expo's Tea At Half-Past Three . She is today’s premiere authority on issues relating to mothers of color, author of The Mocha Manual™ series of books and editor in chief of MochaManual.com, the fast growing web-based publication and lifestyle destination for today’s African American moms and moms-to-be. Kimberly also serves as editorial director of the Black Maternal Health Project, a series of articles produced by Women’s eNews, an award-winning online news service for women, and funded by the W.R. Kellogg Foundation. She also blogs on Momlogic.com and BabyCenter’s Momformation.com and recently moderated a global online chat on maternal health for the UN Millennium Campaign.
Her NAACP Image Award nominated book, The Mocha Manual to a Fabulous Pregnancy (Amistad/HarperCollins) is the first-of-its kind guidebook for Black women. The Mocha Manual to Turning Your Passion into Profit –How to Find and Grow Your Side Hustle in any Economy (Amistad/HarperCollins), her recently released second book, has been featured on CNN, Fox, The Tom Joyner Morning Show and in U.S. News & World Report, among others. It is a must-read for aspiring female entrepreneurs. The third book in the series, The Mocha Manual to Military Life—A Savvy Guide for Girlfriends, Wives and Female Service Members will be released June 30th.
Kimberly is also founder of The Mocha Manual Company, the emerging multi-media brand for women of color, featuring MochaManual.com, the Mocha Manual maternity and new dad tee shirt line, and the Mocha Manual to a Fabulous Pregnancy DVD, sold at Wal-mart.com and Acme Supermarkets.
The Mocha Manual to a Fabulous Pregnancy has been extensively featured in the international, national and local press, including Ebony, Pregnancy, and Essence magazines, and the UK’s New Nation, Guardian, and The Voice newspapers.
Seals Allers holds a BA from New York University, and a M.S. from Columbia University. A Queens, New York native, she currently resides in Bay Shore, New York with her two children—nine-year-old Kayla Rebecca and five-year-old Michael Jaden.
